Raising the thermostat will not warm your room up any quicker. This is due to the way a thermostat works. The temperature you select on the thermostat is what is called the set point.

When the air temperature in your room is lower than the set point, the thermostat will send a signal to ask for heating. When the desired temperature (set point) has been reached, the thermostat will then turn off the heating to conserve energy.

What will happen when you raise the thermostat setting is that the system will run for a longer period of time to reach the temperature you have selected. It really is that simple.
